On December 15 and December 19, 2020, the automation major of the School of Mechano-Electronic Engineering respectively invited Professor Guo Baolong, Famous Teaching Teacher of Shaanxi Province and Head of Courses of National-level Quality, and Professor Shi Guangming, Specially-appointed Professor as Changjiang Scholar, IEEE Fellow, IET Fellow, and Vice President to give freshmen seminars.
On the afternoon of December 15, the report of Professor Guo Baolong was developed with the university study in the Internet+ times as the theme. He firstly shared the essential connotation of university, clarified the knowledge evolution from high school to university and its internal logic through multiple cases, explained the university learning methods and goals with the story that fish is still fish, and stated the interrelationship between courses from the three principles of modern learning theory; then, standing in the context of the changing times, Professor Guo Baolong told about the different characteristics and the changes in learning methods from the agrarian times, the steam engine times, the electrical times, and the information times to the Internet+ times through video presentations and other means, analyzing the new changes in university learning modes from different perspectives. After the course, he also interacted and communicated with students warmly.


On the afternoon of December 19, the report of Professor Shi Guangming took the systemic view - characteristics of the automation major as the theme, and elaborated the characteristics and application prospects of the automation major from the perspective of system through vivid examples, which improved everyone's recognition of the automation major and pointed out the way forward for the freshman who are in a period of confusion.


After class, students successively expressed that such opportunities to communicate with experts face to face are very rare. The famous teachers and experts stand on an eminence and are farsighted, and they solve everyone's doubts about their major more systematically and comprehensively, and help students better set their learning directions, become firmer about their learning goals, and adapt to university life faster.
In addition, in this semester, Professor Li Zhi, Doctoral Supervisor and Discipline Leader of the major, Professor Zhang Qiang, Director of the Department of Automatic Control, Associate Professor Zhang Juxiang, University-level Model of Teacher Morality, and other team backbone teachers have also been invited to give freshmen seminars. These teachers started from their own research fields respectively to help freshmen learn about the characteristics of the major, deepen their professional understanding, and increase their enthusiasm and self-confidence in learning, which have achieved good effects.
