Doctoral student Wang Cong is a member of the Complex Systems International Joint Research Center of Shaanxi Province, and the Systems Control and Automation GroupSystem Control and Automation Research Group, led by Professor Li Zhiwu of our School. He was born in Feng County, Jiangsu Province in July 1992and he is a member of the Communist Party of China and the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. In June 2014, he graduated from the Department of Automation of Hohai University, and then was recommended to the Department of Mathematics of Hohai University for a master's degree in September of the same year. In September 2017, he was admitted to the mechatronic engineering major of our School through application and assessment, and under the supervision of Professor Zhou Mengchu (Changjiang Scholar, IEEE Fellow) and Li Zhiwu (IEEE Fellow). In March 2019, funded by China Association for Science and Technology, he made an academic visit to the University of Alberta in Canada for three months, who was co-supervised byProfessor Witold Pedrycz (Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and IEEE, as well as, a member of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts); In October 2019, funded by the Graduate School of Xidian University, he went to the Nanyang Technological University (the first 6 months) and the National University of Singapore (the last 6 months) for a one-year joint training programa joint training, who was co-supervised by Dr. Jun Zhao and Professor Shuzhi Sam Ge (Academician of Singapore Academy of Engineeringand IEEE Fellow). Presently,he is mainly engaged in some interesting aspects such as fuzzy theory, wavelet analysis and its applications, granular computing, computer vision, as well as pattern recognition and image processing.

Since enrolling in September 2017, Wang Cong has conducted detailed research on image segmentation algorithms in complex domainsand proposed a series of fast image segmentation algorithms with competitiveperformance, which have greatly improved the robustness and computational efficiencyof traditional ones. It is worth emphasizing that he creatively proposed the G-image concept and the G-image segmentation algorithm framework for the first time, which has been unanimously praised by the industry peers. During his PhD period , as the first author, he has published seven regular papers in the top SCI-indexed journals with a cumulative impact factor of 58.331. Five of them were published in IEEE Transactions on Image Processing (IF: 9.34), IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems (IF: 9.518), and IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics (IF: 11.079), ).with a cumulative impact factor of 58.331. He has also co-published three international conference papers as a co-author. In addition, he has submitted three first-author and one co-author papers to SCI top journal papers. For now, there are one first-author English monograph and 4 SCI top journal paper are under writing. Currently, Wang Cong also serves as a reviewer of 20+international top journals and important conferences, including IEEE, TPAMI/IEEE, TNNLS/IEEETFS/IEEETKDE, and so on.

Besides vertical projects, Wang Cong is also a ctively committed to exploring the practical application and benefit conversion of theoretical results. His research results can be well applied to 3D remote sensing image analysis and 3D medical image analysis, As a results, his patent applications are currently under preparation. Based on the scientific research achievements made by him, he was successfully selected into the 2018 Excellent Chinese and Foreign Youth Exchange Program of the China Association for Science and Technology 2018 China Association for Science and Technology (the only 3 students of Xidian University were selected into this program, while a total of 163 across the country); As an independent completer, he presided over the 2020 Top Postgraduate Excellent Dissertations Fund of School of Mechano-Electronic Engineering, Xidian University, 2019 Excellent Doctoral dissertations Fund of Xidian University, 2019 Doctoral Students’ Short Term Study Abroad Scholarship Fund of Xidian University, and 2018 Innovation Fund of Xidian University; and as the third completer, he participated in a general project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China . In addition, he won the 2019 National Scholarship and the 2018 Xidian Graduate Academic Annual Conference Excellent Paper Award (ranked 1st in the School). In consideration of his outstanding academic achievements, he was selected as the "2019 Postgraduate National Scholarship Figure" and was specially reported by the official media of Xidian University.
