Based on the original intention of "training professional talents, serving the university with design", proposed by Liang Wei, Head of the Communist Party Committee, and Chen Wu, Deputy Dean of the School of Mechano-Electronic Engineering, Ms. Yang Xihui and Mr. Xu Shejiao organized all teachers of the Department of Industrial Design to hold the "Xidian University 90th Anniversary Cultural and Creative Product Design Competition".

On the first day of school, the department mobilized students of the industrial design major of grades 2018 and 2019 and made a brief introduction. At 19:30 on the evening of September 4, the launching ceremony and mobilization meeting of the 90th Anniversary Design Competition was held at EIII 301 in the new campus. Teachers from the Department of Industrial Design such as Yang Xihui, Zhang Ying, Zhang Aimei, Feng Bo, and Shi Baoquan participated in the launching ceremony.

The competition required students to closely follow the theme - the university history (red history, which shall inherit the red gene), and discipline characteristics (electronic information, which shall bravely climb the peak of electronic technology), and develop their creative ideas in combination with the landmark buildings in the campus, symbolic scientific research results (FAST project, Space-based Solar Power Station System project), etc. At the launching meeting, teachers such as Yang Xihui, Zhang Ying, and Feng Bo shared the LOGO design methods and precautions respectively.

The competition lasted for 3 months. During the activity, professional teachers from the Department of Industrial Design such as Yang Xihui, Zhang Ying, Zhang Aimei, Feng Bo, and Liu Bo took time out of their busy schedule to provide face-to-face tutoring for participating students once a week. In order to invigorate the atmosphere of the tutoring activities of the competition and encourage more students to participate in tutoring, Ms. Zhang Ying also specially shared her collection of excellent design works for students' learning and reference. In addition, Zhang Ying also meticulously organized colorful activities such as coffee tasting and ceramic making experience to allow students to have fun in participating in the competition, improve their participation enthusiasm and expand their knowledge.

After the efforts of the students and the guidance of professional a total of over 30 excellent LOGO design works for the anniversary of the university. In the selection of the creative plan for the 90th anniversary of university organized by the university in the face of the university and all units in the society, 9 works of teachers and students of the Department of Industrial Design obtained the good performance of being shortlisted (a total of 15 shortlisted works).

On December 24, 2020, after the centralized review of all professional teachers of the Department of Industrial Design, a total of 24 award-winning works were selected, including 1 Special Prize, 2 First Prizes, and 3 Second Prizes; 5 Third Prizes and 13 Excellent Prizes.

On December 30, 2020, the Department of Industrial Design also held the award ceremony for the 90th anniversary of the university. Liang Wei attended the award ceremony on behalf of the school leaders. Head Liang Wei, Director Yang Xihui, Head Shi Baoquan, and teachers such as Xu Shejiao, Zhang Ying, Zhang Aimei, Cheng Peitao, Feng Bo, Yi Zhenzhen, Liu Xiaoyuan, and Liu Bo presented certificates of merit to the award-winning students.

After the ceremony, Head Liang made a concluding speech for the competition activity. While praising all participating teachers and students for their efforts and hard work, he also put forward the ardent expectation of everyone to summarize the experience, expand the influence, closely combine the competition with the talent training and strive to make the competition better and more excellent in the future.

After the meeting, the teachers and students who participated in the awards ceremony took a group photo together, drawing a successful end to the 90th Anniversary Design Competition.

The 90th Anniversary Design Competition exercised the engineering practice design ability of the students of the Department of Industrial Design, and activated the atmosphere of students' learning and teachers' work.
